Course Rules

Golf Etiquette

1. No one should move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or hole, when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke.
2. Ready golf is encouraged at all times especially at the Tees.
3. No player shall play until players ahead are out of range.
4. In the interest of all, players should play without delay. Having LOST a ball, CALL the following group through IMMEDIATELY.
5. Before leaving a bunker, players should carefully rake out all footprints.
6. All divot marks and all ball marks on the green should be repaired.
7. Avoid as much as possible standing on or walking near the hole.
8. When the results of the hole have been determined players should leave the putting surface immediately. Mark cards on next tee as others are preparing to play.
9. Players must not play practice shots from mown fairways into any green not allocated for that purpose.


Sand buckets must be used to fill divots.

Your place in the field is immediately behind the group in front not just ahead of the ground behind

All events over 18 holes unless otherwise stated. Competitors in match play who have finished square after 18 holes must continue from the tee first played until a result is obtained. All matches MUST be played by daye set down unless special permission is obtained from the Captain

In the event of a tie in ordinary competition the winner shall be decided by a playoff. In major events the winner shall be decided by a playoff.

Members are required to acquaint themselves with the local rules of the club. All changes will be listed on the notice board.

Ambrose handicaps are:
2 persons 1/4,
3 persons 1/6,
4 persons 1/8 of total combined handicaps.

Club Rules Regarding Conditions Of Play

Stableford, Par and Match Play Rules

Competitors take strokes they receive at the alloted holes. Mark at each hole the number of strokes actually taken.

Hole done in net one over par – 1 point.
Hole done in net par – 2 points.
Hole done in net one under par – 3 points.
Hole done in net two under par – 4 points.
Hole done in net three under par – 5 points. The competitors with the highest number of points is the winner.

Stableford, Par, and Four-Ball vs Par are played with full handicaps.

Match Play is played with the full difference in stroke handicap of the two players using the International Index on the back of the card.

Match Play index is on the scorecards.

Players with club handicaps may play in field and are eligible for minor club events. Cards from Match Play competition will not be accepted for handicap purposes.

Priority On The Course

In the absence of special rules:
Two ball matches have precedence over and be entitled to pass any three or four ball match.
Competition players have right of way
Any match playing a whole round is entitled to pass a march playing a shorter round.
If a match fails to keep its place in the course, and loses MORE than one clear hole on the players in front, it must allow the match following to pass.
Social players have no priority on the course


Members are requested to return cards regularly for handicapping purposes.Members must swipe their golf link cards before each competition round.

New Members

It is the responsibility of all new members to acquaint themselves with the rules and regulations of the club including dress regulations.


Visitors are eligible to compete in events on competition days excepting board events, major events including Club Championships, foursome Championships, Monthly medals.
Visitors must pay nominated green fees as well as competition fees.

Dress Regulations

Members and Visitors are required to be neatly attired, cleanly dressed and correctly arrived at all times particularly in warmer weather.


All complaints shall be made in writing to the Secretary/Manager of the club, who shall submit the same to the board. No employee of the club shall be directly reprimanded by an individual member.

Ladies Competition Days

1 Putting and NTP’s on stroke days, NTP’s on Stableford days.
2 When there are forty-nine players or less there will only be two grades. If there are 30  players or less on Thursdays there will only be one division
3 Players are requested to report to the starter at least 15 minutes before their starting time.
4 Point scores are taken on all single stroke rounds (Par and Stableford) over the competition from March to September
5 VISITORS are eligible to compete on competition days excepting major events and medals. They must produce their Golf Link Number on request. Visitors must pay nominated green fees.
6 The lowest handicap player in each group is responsible for the observance of the rules and etiquette of the game.
7 Thursday Eclectic is taken on single stroke rounds.
